Gustav Braun
Chairman
Gustav Braun draws from over 45 years of experience as both an aviation insurance underwriter and broker. Prior to his position as Chairman of SkyTerra, Inc., Gustav built Extended Reinsurance Group (ERG) into the 2nd largest aviation and satellite reinsurance company in the world; writing premiums in excess of $200 million and second only to Lloyd's of London!
Fluent in German and Spanish, Gustav has travelled extensively and developed the Aviation insurance and reinsurance markets in Latin America, Europe and Asia.
During his career as Chairman of ERG, Gustav gained the respect of the world aviation underwriting community and nurtured the underwriting relationships that he continues to enjoy today.
Mark Andrews, is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science (formerly TCI). Mark has over 35 years in the Insurance and Reinsurance business with over 20 years as an aviation insurance broker. Mark started his career as an Underwriter with American Reinsurance in their International Division underwriting Property & Casualty Treaty Programs throughout Latin America. Fluent in Spanish, Mark has traveled extensively within Central America, South America and the Caribbean, spending his earlier years living in Caracas.
In 1986 Mark joined American International Group (AIG) as an Assistant Vice President of their Reinsurance Intermediary Division. He has underwritten both Excess Catastrophe as well as Quota Share Treaties and produced new sources of business for the group throughout Central and South America, including Assumed as well as Ceded Programs.
In 1999 he joined Smyth Sanford & Gerard Intermediaries as a Senior Vice President in their New York City offices to further develop their aviation book of business worldwide.
After many successful years Mark joined the SkyTerra team in October, 2002. Mark’s experience in conjunction with that of the brokerage team, brings their clients a whole new level of service excellence at SkyTerra.
A graduate of the University of Vermont with a major in business, Gerry Braun has over 25 years of experience as an aviation insurance and reinsurance broker. Gerry began his career with Willis Corroon, one of the world's largest aviation insurance brokerage firms, where he worked for over 3 years in their London, England office, placing international aviation insurance risks through Lloyd's of London and the European insurance markets.
Upon his return to the Willis New York office, Gerry accepted a Vice President's position, where he specialized in the Western Hemisphere marketplace, co-managing the insurance on accounts such as Aeromexico, Mexicana and Aeroperu.
With the knowledge thus gained, Gerry and his father teamed up to start their own specialized aviation insurance and reinsurance brokerage firm... SkyTerra, Inc.! In addition to his professional dedication to aviation, Gerry also maintains a current private pilot's license.
Lissette is a Business Administration graduate who began her career in aviation insurance in 2005 when she joined the SkyTerra team as an Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President. Lissette overseas many of the day to day administrative duties.
Her combined experience of 10 years as an executive assistant in aviation insurance and specializing in Latin America offers our clientele the highest degree of service and knowledge in all aspects of aviation insurance.
Mark Sterling is a graduate of the Anisfield School of Business at Ramapo College of New Jersey with a major in business marketing and a minor in international business.
Mark began his career in aviation insurance in 2009 as an assistant underwriter at Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers supporting their Latin American Division.
In 2014 Mark joined the SkyTerra team as broker/risk advisor and began servicing the aviation needs in the Caribbean markets.
Mark's underwriting and brokering experience in various markets and aircraft provide our clients with specialized and tailored insurance solutions.
